How to create a Servitor

Firstly, allow me to explain for those who don’t know what a servitor is. A servitor is energy, is an idea, given form to carry out a task or goal. It is similar to a sigil in that it is a creation of the magician’s will. A servitor can best described as a magical servant or imaginary friend with function.

In Dion Fortune’s Psychic Self-Defense she mentions a wolf spirit that was tormenting her. This wolf it turned out was nothing more than a creation of her own will. It is also an
incredible example of a servitor. With the exception of course that the wolf was never bound to her will.

A servitor can take on any idea, shape or purpose. The more complex the purpose, the more focus and energy required. A servitor created with a given purpose, such as protection; will be more effective than one whose purpose is to protect, warn, or even expedite services. Whatever the function of the servitor is does not matter, it is all decided by you. How does one go about creating a servitor?

Before you even consider creating a servitor one must first master Sigil Magick, if you have not done that then the rest of this may not be too useful.

The first step in creating a servitor is finding an object to bind the energy to. One can use anything, rings, talismans, stones, crystals, etc. Try to stick to using metals if you can as they are the most conductive for holding spiritual energy. Personally, I like to create custom talismans for the purpose of a Servitor. This way I don’t forget who is doing what.

Before, we do anything with our chosen object we first need to decide what the servitor will be used for. Write down a list of its functions and purposes. When you know its purpose, draw a picture, or find an photo or illustration of it’s intended appearance. It would be a shame to create a servitor with the intent of protection and then have it be a shapeless blob.

When you have done all of these things it is time to focus your energy and thoughts into the object. Imagine, what your servitor will look like and focus on its intent while holding the object. This may take as long as 30 minutes to “fill” the object with intent. This however has not brought the servitor to life. To do that we need to focus and channel our energy and conscious. The best methods are those used to charge sigils. With object in hand pick your preferred method to charge the object. At the pinnacle of focus imagine the image of your servitor. The work is now complete. The servitor will work to fulfill its purpose. Depending on its function and skill level, depends upon how it will interact. One of the first servitors I created loved to follow me around and sleep at the foot of my bed.

Creating a servitor is no small undertaking and should only be done when a sigil will not work. It is important when creating any servitor that you give it an image and name that only you know. Most importantly do not be afraid of your servitor, it is bound to you and you should not fear it.

What do you do if someone else notices it? I have had someone tell me what mine looks like and I believe I have created a lot of them and they are probably wild. I had one pop back into my room and then followed by one I didn’t know which took mine away. It was manipulative and beautiful I literally had to recycle its energy because I think it was hurting people when it wasn’t near me. Had a vision of it scratching people and that was odd. Or did I not make one of these and I made something else?

    • Great observations!

      • If someone notices your servitor there could be a bigger challenge at hand. You can try reabsorbing it or wait and see how people react to it. Most of the time you can leave the servitor be without taking action.
      • You may not have been followed by another servitor it could of been one of many other things out there as well as what you ended up with. Most spirits etc avoid people because once you sense them you have complete power over them
      • Servitors are very literal and often very basic in their orders. You give it one action and it will do that exact action. It is only with practice that you can get better control over their orders. Some of them can learn if you tell them/will them what they need to know.

Is it okay, to create a servitor whose purpose is to create other servitors for me whenever I tell it to?

    • This is actually fairly advanced, providing your servitor has some semblance of intelligence not just programmed knowledge. At that point you may have created a free roaming spirit, I’d recommend not taking this approach as it may turn into a bit of a debacle. Think Mickey Mouse and his cleaning brooms from Fantasia.

Is it possible for a person to create a servitor to see into the past and future time events of anything assign to it? e.g to check the future score between two football teams that want to play against each other but not yet play and the servitor will be able to report back immediately?

    • That is a fairly complex task and the margin of error is rather high. Your best intent may be just to contact your future self.

      • What do you mean by future self? The future has not yet happened. Maybe you mean the subconscious mind, which can see possible futures. I say possible futures because the future is decided by what happens now. It is not fixed.

Your comment reveals your ignorance. All time is existent, past, present, future. It is already written. Yes, there is the possibility of multiple timelines (separated by differences as small as say, one electron being out of place) but jumping timelines is a whole different matter. You can contact your future self in the timeline you currently occupy.

Yes, I am ignorant. But I seek to learn.
If you insult me because of that, I don’t care.
If you know everything, that is nice.
            But be humble about it.

Thank you for the explanation above.

Couple questions. Am I supposed to imagine the servitor with me throughout the day like an imaginary friend? Or am I actually supposed to /see/ it? Or similarly, will I just know when it is near through sensing it or will I never be able to tell? Deedee’s comment confused me, she spoke as if hers were physical beings she could actually see.

    • It’s different for different people and servitors. For myself it is a presence I am aware but I have known those who are able to see them. And being seen unless they are of your creation they may hide.

  7. Hello

I am in the process of charging my servitor. I have already seen things that suggest to me that he is loitering around. this is fine, however I thought that the things I have been seeing would more resemble the form that I have been creating him in. is it usual to see signs of your entity that does not look the way you programmed him? For instance he is suppose to be orange in colour, however I have been seeing a range of white, grey and black images that are blurry and not even close to the size he should be. Do you think it could be other entities? Thanks for your reply.

  8. Dear Jack, thank you for your article. How can I be sure a servitor is created?? Most of you here since it’s presence. I created a servitor and funny feel it’s presence nor its’ work although I spent an hour creating it with visualization. I don’t think the energy I stormy creating it dissipated bit I also don’t feel the presence of the servitor as many magicians claim to do. Should I just reinforce its existence by repeatedly affirming its existence in the subconscious mind?? Your help appreciated.

Can I create a servitor to manifest the husband I want – its in my dream

  11. Nicholas says

Servitors happen to be one of the first pieces of “advanced” magick I’ve ever managed. Quite fun when you get the hang of it. What I think is unusual in my experience at least, is that I was able to program mine with much more complex thoughts than one might think. My first success involved me creating one with the purpose of creating others in order to observe and protect my friends. Long story I’d rather not get into but my whole point is that magick is much easier and natural for people when you really put yourself into your practice as much as possible.

I’ve had two servitors and they both have no sigils? Is that ok? Like Idk, I always been creating my servitors like this. I have two of them housed each within a bone of mine, which they like so I can carry them. I don’t write this down. But the names I had to since it was always hard picking names, but then I changed their orginal names because too many ppl knew.
So what I am saying is it normal or ok that my servitors don’t have sigils?

  13. Doreen Oosthuizen says

I created a servitor but I don’t know if it is alive. I don’t see anything and I sent it out to my bidding which is for financial purpose but nothing has happened.

I don’t know how to find out if it is alive.
